A family-run Louisiana seafood house in Sterlington and West Monroe.
Susan and Trey Fluitt were getting ready to retire in 2021 after years of running healthcare businesses. Then a conversation with a young manager changed the plan, and they bought The Fish House in Sterlington and stepped in to lead it themselves.
Susan grew up in Sulphur, Trey in Monroe, and that Southern upbringing shows in everything from the food to the decor. Sterlington's regulars asked for a second location for years. In April 2025 it opened at 4500 Cypress Street in West Monroe, with room for more than 300 guests and the same family-friendly, fast-casual feel.
We don't consider ourselves owners—we're the coaches.
You'll find them working the floor beside their crew, running food, clearing tables, washing dishes and saying hello. Gracie Deere, who started as a hostess, now runs Sterlington day to day, and Jason Grenevitch leads the team in West Monroe.
The crew is family here, and so is the town. From catering to the drive-thru to a Monday-night Bible study in Sterlington, Susan and Trey want The Fish House to feel like home to the people it serves.
